Paris for blog

Eating bread from last nights meal I squirreled away. Travel is about access. At this moment, I don’t have access to food till we walk to a patisserie. Normally, I have a fridge full of food. We both slept at 10pm. I awoke at 0630 till 0730. I probably could have gotten up then. Wayne was snoring away. I went back to sleep and was hard to arouse at 0920. Wayne was up by 0830. It is important we’re on the same sleep schedule. Thus the hunger.

1000 cafe creperie on rue du sufflot was good. We had petit dejeuner Breton- hand squeezed OJ, sugar crepe, and hot chocolate. Stir chocolate next time. Getting fruit seems a little challenging from cafes. We’ve gotten salads at dinner and lunch. Haven’t found a fruit shop near our hotel.

1130 RER interesting. Definitely need to read the signs. Got on a train that terminated at invalides 2 stops from Eiffel tower. We waited outside on the platform for 12 minutes. Everyone got back on the train, so we followed. It turned around the direction. I started paying more attention to the video screens which seemed incomprehensible before. We proved our metal by navigating thru Chatelet, the central connecting hub in Paris, during rush hour. The key is knowing what town ends the line.

Finally found a fruit supermarche near us. 48 hrs in France and all the fruit I got has been in a tart.

Today really has been a shopping day. More successful at pharmacies today. Got Wayne eye drops. No Colace. They just tried to give out laxatives. I’ll try the fruit.

After the tornado of the Eiffel, I got another small umbrella so I don’t have to haul the cane sized one from the hotel. My jeans were starting to chill me. Wayne got gloves that he thought were “girly”. I was happy to enjoy their warmth. We got to Rue Cler. It really was a ghost street as RS suggested. We got tea towels from a woman retiring after 40 yrs on Rue Cler. Goat cheese and a picnic set at the fromagerie. Chocolates- orange rinds and a praline truffle from La Mere de Famille. We ate at Tribeca, another RS choice. Lasagne bolognese looked great and warm. Wayne went for pizza. The salad was excellent-carrots, mushrooms, green beans, fresh lettuce.

Champs was car dealerships, monoprix, and getting a replacement from my Adidas hat from 15 yrs ago.
