Valentine’s day

We’ve been having rain and oddly for the NW, rainbows. Here’s one I saw with the girls.

We also stopped to admire the sunset.

We continued our tradition of chocolate covered strawberries.

Karen’s birthday

God always proves to me that birthdays are a blessing.

I turned around and this is what he provided me.

Kjrsten came over for an unexpected lunch and walk.

This was my fortune.

I got this picture from Sara.

Wayne gave me a beautiful card. And we also went to Whistler. More bday celebrations planned in the South.

Chasing the moon

When the zoo sent us a paper calendar, I was about to throw it away. Wayne rescued it and helped Sara put it above her bed. She’s been writing on it, crossing off days. She’s been using it to analyze my birthday tomorrow. She’s been counting down days in a very cute fashion. One thing she noticed is I get a full moon on my birthday. Wayne walked in from work and said we’d have to look for it. In fine NW fashion, it’s cloudy. As we peak out at intervals, you can see a shimmery glimmer, but only that. My plans for a moon might be foiled. So tonight we peaked out doors chasing the moon. The expectant moon added magic to play. Children got transformed into servant cats. They set my table. They ate food on the floor picnic cat style. The cleared their plates using no hands. They insisted on low light and candles for the this meal. In such circumstances, I sat and ate and blessed my life. A moon glimpse would be great, but reading to my girls if the real gift. Sara declares it a special, blessed night. I agree. We are together. Pumpkin bread smell wafts from the oven. the day ends well.

  • Showed this to my 8 year old. http://t.co/c6RBB83Y Now she's really upset to learn it's not a real show… #
  • Looks like London is getting a little taste of Seattle's winter, while we are now around 12-13C and sunny. <Conservation of bad weather> #

February has begun

It’s birthday month for us. It cheers up February immensely. But, February has not needed much cheering since our sun has arrived in style.

This is the way Sara started my day. It’s an octostrich. I’m also declaring it the official beginning of birthday week since I turn 40 next Wednesday!

The girls have been playing a lot. Breyer horses came out this week. I think most of them were out at one point or another this week. They have been gathering dust on their high shelves. I took the girls to Goodwill for the first time to look for some dresses. Jane joined us. The girls happily looked at dresses. On the way out, I spotted a morgan breyer horse for $4 over on the jewelry counter. I grabbed it. It became Laura’s. She named it Velvet after conferring with me. Of course, Velvet needed playmates. So, it began.

Tulips make me happy. Laura insisted we get red tulips and I was happy to comply.

I accompanied Kimberlee to PCC and went shopping there since it was an off week where we didn’t need a lot of non-perishable things.

Skiing stopped this week and though I enjoyed the experience, I couldn’t tell you how happy I felt to be home. Even swimming on Friday afternoons feels busy to me. I think by Friday, I’m tired and just want to rest. On the other hand, it has been fun. I’ll cogitate on that for a while and think about what I want to do. On my Saturday “off”, I’m doing chores and preparing for a trip to Whistler. So skiing didn’t really stop in a sense.

After art this week, we hung out with Susan and Caitlyn. We had a lovely chili. The girls played joyfully. We ended the evening with Math night. The next evening, we continued school week and went to the Sara’s winter concert.

  • Honestly @kcmetrobus sometimes I wonder why I even bother with the 17X from Downtown to Loyal Height. No show at 5:52 @ Yesler & Prefontaine #
