The Farmer’s market is amazing. It is certainly the bread basket.
Laura’s sleeping. We are waiting for pizza slices. The Corvallis Saturday Farmer’s Market just let out. The line at American Dream is long. Audra is delivering our produce to the cooler in the car. The girls are coloring. The wait is giving Laura a chance to take her nap and me a chance to rest my feet.
After this oasis, we took the girls to the Corvallis public pool. What an amazing place. It’s like Mountlake Terrace and Pop Mounger pool combined, but all outside. A slide, a river, ropes, fountains.
The pool closed way too soon. We headed home to Phil and Nat. Audra and I looked at each other and started to propose a girl’s night out of tubing. It was about the same time as the previous’ night failed attempt. We got a minimal assent from Phil and Mom, turned it into a blessing, and bolted to Mommy nirvana, river running without grumpy kids. Nat kindly drove us.
It was amazing. We just launched ourselves onto the river. We had the river to ourselves because of the cold.
Operationally, we had a hard time navigating. We eventually got the hang of it. I saw an osprey and a heron. The sun sparkled on the waters. Mostly, I got to be quiet. And I got to be alone with my friend.
