Pumpkin Carving

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 9:13 pm

For the past three years we have made the trek next door to carve pumpkins for halloween. It’s always a great time. This year I had a bit of a cold, and standing out in the cold was not good for boosting the immune system. After laying around sick all weekend I think I have mostly recovered. The neat thing about this year was that Sara was able to participate some more. I had her draw the design on the pumpkin below and then I cut it out for her. She is quite good at drawing faces.

Pumpkin bread w/ chocolate chips

Filed under: General — Karen @ 10:21 pm

I have been craving this. Costco has a mix that is delicious. Since I haven’t been to Costcrazy for awhile, I picked up a mix at Trader Joe’s this Sunday. I was thinking about making it for desert while I was staffing EMGs at the VA.

After dinner, I asked Sara if she wanted to bake. She was nonchalant. I mentioned chocolate chips and I had a sous-chef. Sara poured the mix, the oil, the eggs, and the water. She did an initial stir or two. Once it was mixed, she added all the chocolate chips. We all enjoyed the finished product tonight before a very tired Sara went to bed.

Sara has no carpet. Her room is set to be painted in 1-2 weeks. Then we’re going to try to refinish her floor.

Incidentally, Sara has added Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star to her song repetoire.
