New Flickr Stream

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 6:32 pm

I started keeping a photostream of pictures that I try to take daily with the new camera in my cell phone. It is a 2 megapixel camera, with flash, optical zoom, and autofocus. Pretty nice! Click on the “what is this?” and then
“Wayne Wooten” to see all our pics.

Bunny Bounce

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 7:10 pm

The weather has been mostly miserable up here as usual for Easter Weekend. We got out of bed early this morning and noticed some sunshine and headed for the Zoo. Once there, we joined throngs of brightly clothed toddlers all running around picking up plastic eggs so they could trade them for the much higher valued chocolate candy.

Sara was a good sport and actually enjoyed picking up the blue and purple eggs (her favorite colors). We then toured the rest of the zoo, she really likes to see the Jaguar. Sara said, “Cats’s asleep. SHHHH!” Click here for a movie, it will take awhile to load, so be patient.

We have lived in this city so long now, that we timed our exit from the Zoo perfectly, as we drove home it started pouring rain again.

What’s in a name (for a grain of rice)?

Filed under: General — Karen @ 12:22 pm

Kinda poetic, rhyming title.

Last time, we stumbled on something really fun with Chewbacca, ne chewbecca. My Dad would have long, psychic conversations with that fetus that is now Sara. He would claim to know her every desire. It often involved shortening Mom’s visits to Seattle or instructions for Wayne and I to photograph more, oddly enough.

Some now there’s another heartbeat in my womb. I’ve been calling it ‘Hopeful’ Wooten. I’ve had fears about infertility (so it took us 1 month longer than expected) or of miscarriage. I’ve also been excited about this new gift God has given us.

Dad is unhappy with the moniker ‘Hopeful’ and has lobbied for a change (this is why I save the real name for the birth; naming is not a democratic process). So here’s the final iteration (approved by Dad): Whirly Gig Wooten. Whirly Gig is a kids festival in Seattle. Gig can transform in to GI Joe for a boy or Gigi for a girl.
Whirly is easy. Whirly Wooten. My little grain of rice. Grow well and quickly, little one.

I wonder what you’re murmuring to Dad tonight.

Italia Saria

Filed under: General — Karen @ 4:07 pm

My name has changed. Mommy is boring. The new fad is ‘Mommia’. ‘Daddia’. ‘Mia’ (refering to herself). I watched her tonight. Life seems to slide past. Some funny event happens and I vow to record it. Then life slips along.
Sara is a tall girl. Her head seems well proportioned, but it’s noticably bigger than her friend Johana’s. She’s wearing mismatched socks today, but they match her floral shirt. Her Dad likes to dress her sharply. He’s the one always insisting on dresses for Easter and such. Her blond hair is curly. Her blue eyes sparkle. Her mouth is mischevious.

2005 Photos

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 10:30 am

Well I spent a little time to put together what we thought were the best shots taken last year. As usual, most of the best pictures are taken on summer vacation where we are concentrating on actually taking good pictures (instead of simply taking snapshots).

I used the new iWeb program to publish these to our .mac account. It is a neat program, but has quite a few rough edges. The templates automatically assume all your pictures are 4×3 vertical or horizontal aspect, so cropped images aren’t positionted correctly at all. Oh well, hopefully the program will get the attention it deserves over time.

You can find the new photos here or on the photography links to the left.
