Rainier Rain

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 8:33 pm

We went to Mnt Rainier with the Fredas on the weekend of Father’s day. We left in the late afternoon on Friday and got to the Chalet at Alexander’s Inn just as twilight was setting in.

Sara really liked the place, especially the fact that it had a bunny puzzle.

The next day after a hearty breakfast, we headed up the mountain. It was a cloudy day, so views of the peak were iffy. We stopped at Longmire to ask about the new visitor center and to take a picture of the family tree.

We spent the rest of the time up at Paradise. We hiked up to Myrtle falls and I took some pictures. Not very crowded this weekend, that was nice.

That night after the thunderstorms, Bob finally got to eat the fresh trout that he had a conversation with earlier that morning (in the trout pond). Sara did extremely well and sat for nearly an hour and a half since they were very busy that evening.

The next day we were up early and headed for the airport, we drove around the park and had some nice views of the peak that morning. We stopped at Reflection Lakes and were going to try to go to Sunrise, but time ran out.

San Juan Islands

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 7:23 pm

Karen’s Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin came to visit us two weeks ago. The weekend before Father’s day we took a really relaxing trip out to Orca’s Island. The trip started in the Anacortes ferry line. This is where we learned the bed of the truck makes a great play pen for Sara.

The ferry ride was rather magical, especially the rainbows in the various rain showers around the San Juans and other ferries crossing paths.

Once we got to the island it was rather late, but we found a divine restaurant at a place called the Inn at Ship Bay. I had a wonderful duck entree. We stayed at the Rosario resort, and had a nice buffet breakfast, and a swim in the heated pool. Sara liked running around the hotel and exploring various nooks and crannies. On Saturday we visited a craft fair, and Sara explored the flower garden at a local bakery.

On Sunday we took a nice hike to some waterfalls in the Moran state park, and we drove up to the top of Mnt Constitution. The views from up top were amazing. The Freda clan was very impressed with the beauty of the islands.

Of course all good things come to an end, but not before ice-cream is consumed, we had plenty while waiting on our ferry to take us back home.

I don’t have much more to say than that about Apple switching to use x86 processors in their computers.
