Happy Birthday Sara!

Filed under: General — Karen @ 11:36 am

It’s been a fun birthday week for Sara. She got her 1 yr check up. The stats are in: height 30 1/2 inches, weight 21lb, 7oz, head circumference 48.3cm (90%, 50-75%, >95% respectively). Compare that to the entry to when she was born. She’s done lots of growing.
Developmentally, she’s crawling like a champ. We do “stair time” every day which she loves. She’s always asking to be pulled up so she can walk. She’s cruising on furniture. Occasionally we can convince her to hold on with only one hand. She just started whole milk which she’s finding much more appetizing than formula. She’s enjoying her new toys (stacking toys, a little Tyke’s car, and a LeapFrog music table).
I feel like it’s a huge milestone for me also. I was remembering the night of her birth. I’m glad that labor and all the sleepless nights afterward are a year away and I have a happy and lovely one year old. Bring on the toddling!

Happy Halloween

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 8:04 pm

Happy Halloween. Yeah I know it was a few days ago, but the day after the election now seems a more appropriate day for this holiday.

Just before Halloween we had a very nice full moon, and the total lunar eclipse happened right in front of our eyes. I only had to sit on the front porch and take pictures. Amazing, given how often the evening skies are cloudy.

Then we had a nice pumpkin carving party at our neighbors house. I was originally going to use a “pre-printed” template, but my neighbor Ken shamed me into doing something creative. So with the help of Claire, I made a fairly decent Nemo pumpkin.

Finally the big night arrived and Sara was able to dress up in her cow costume. Even though she was a little under the weather, we manage to rustle up some candy from the neighbors directly adjacent to our house.
