The M’s and Seattle

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 9:37 pm

If you’re a sports fan or from Seattle, you’ll assume I’m talking about the Mariners. Instead I’m referring to the wonderful tornado of kids that is my cousin’s family. Four kids with energetic parents traveled 4 days by car just for a visit.

Of course, we had to start at the Market. The flying fish got the most attention. We posed in front of the pig (”why are there pigs in the market?” was a main question. I didn’t know the answer.)

3 corndogs, 1 dozen donuts, 2 hombow, 1 crumpet and 2 gyros later, we had snacked through the Market. We headed to the Seattle Center to enjoy the Space Needle. A big hit was the Peace Fountain on the other side of the Seattle Center. It was a good excuse to get very wet.

Wayne took the M’s to Mt. Ranier. They hiked to the Nisqually Glacier, something we weren’t able to do with Sara 6 weeks prior.

On their own, they saw the Museum of Flight, Snoqualamie Falls, Mt. St. Helens, Oregon Caves, and Crater Lake. We had a wonderful time and Sara loved playing with her cousins.

Red Riding Hood

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 6:51 am

Well last weekend we took a “shake-down” trip to go car camping with Sara. It was a lot of fun and as usual for shake-down trips, we learned a lot. One of the biggest lessons learned was that with some planning, camping with an infant isn’t too difficult.

We have a new North Face 8 man tent, which is great for 3 people and a baby. Karen’s mom took great care of Sara and really helped out tremendously. We arrived at the Deception Pass State Park campground around 3:30, and just got the tent up before it started raining. Then it eased up a bit and we all got out and played (ok well maybe grandma and Sara played) and had a quick camp dinner.

The next day week took a nice hike with our friends Tracy and Ty along the beach to the Deception Pass bridge and then up to the top of Goose Rock.

I’ll put a link to a photo album with some nice pictures of Sara soon.
