Pixar wins an Oscar!

So “Finding Nemo” wins the “Best Animated Feature Film” category for 2004!
That is great news, I know so many people who really poured their heart and soul into that film (modesty aside, I spent a huge chunk of time on it as well).

Ash Wednesday

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 9:20 pm

Well it is now a tradition. Last year was our first Ash Wednesday service. This year we did it again. This time with Sara (she was in the nusery).

Sara Pictures!

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 8:05 pm

Wow, it’s amazingly difficult to post things to the blog now that Sara is here. As she grows, she demands more and more of our time. And now we think she might be teething, which is resulting in reliving those times of absolutely no sleep when she was just born.

As promised here are some pictures of the grandparents from their visit during Christmas.

Free Firewood!

Filed under: General — Wayne @ 4:34 pm

Some friends of ours witnessed 2 acts of God back to back. The first was a fierce storm that we had last Thursday. During this storm, that brought winds strong enough to nearly knock a semi truck right off the Deception Pass Bridge, a VERY large poplar tree decided to break in half. In the picture above you can see it’s evil twin to get an idea of the size of these trees.

The second act of God, was the fact that this tree fell and landed in a space about 5 feet wide on the side of their house. The branches didn’t even scratch the paint! And there was a set of hedges that prevented it from rolling off and smashing the neighbors house. It did happen to take out their power and cable lines, but those were restored without too much trouble.

Of course the upshot of all this is that we now have firewood and plenty of it. It was no easy task hauling two Dodge Dakota truck beds worth down their stairs either. And we only took the top pieces of the tree. Down near the base it must have been nearly 4 feet diameter and those pieces would have made nice table tops (except that the wood down at the base has the consistency of styrofoam).
