Snow Day!
Well today was a wonderful snow day here in Seattle. The pictures show how much fun we had.
We also took the opportunity this evening to finish up our end of the year letter. It is amazing how quickly one can throw these things together once a new baby enters ones life. The holiday letter can be found here and will appear in our archives as well.

Snow Ice Cream Recipe
Our neighbor, Erica, served this up for us today. It is a favorite from her childhood in Spokane.
- snow (preferably dry and powdery) 4 cups scooped from ground (avoid dirt particles)
- vanilla extract 1-2 t
- sugar 1/4c
- milk to taste
Mix and enjoy.
I also made snow coke floats. Very yummy.

Quiet
It’s the eve of my first day in 2004. I think I have spent it well. I’m surrounded by my family (Mom, Dad, Wayne, Sara, Comet). I feasted with friends (Mom repeated our Thanksgiving meal for Dad and we invited Edith and neighbors Ken and Erica). My co-resolution with Wayne is the read the New Testament in a year. We were inspired by Jon Jenkins who’s reading the entire Bible in a year. It was nice to read the Xmas story and Jesus’s genealogy. We got new software, Reunion, and will try to track our genealogy for Sara’s sake. I have feasted on good food. I walked with my mother for over an hour in sleeting rain. Finally, I watched Looney Tune classics with my family (Mom’s Xmas gift).
In Matthew 1, it’s interesting how two tenets of the Christian faith are reflected in the name of Jesus. When the angel is talking to Joseph, the angel says Jesus is names Jesus since he will save his people from their sins. Then he says Jesus is Immanuel, meaning God with us. Those are the two tenets of Christianity. God wants to be with us and did so through his son who swept away the barrier of sin. Kinda cool. God had it figured out from the beginning and reflected that in the name.
So now I sit in the quiet of the house content in the important things of life…God, Jesus, family, children, and good times. Happy New Year indeed!
Happy New Year!
Well it is finally 2004. Not much has changed, except it’s cold and snowy outside here in Seattle. And I finally got around to selecting a set of nice pictures from 2002. (That is not a mistake, I’m running a year behind.) Almost all of my favorites are from a trip to Europe we took 2 years ago and all of the pictures were taken with my trusty Nikon 990 digital camera.
