New Hip
So I am sitting in the hospital editing this entry. Swedish is a very nice hospital. Private room, good food, and best of all internet via phone hookup.
Karen had a total hip replacement today. The surgery went well and was fast. The recovery was slower than I expected. They gave her an epidural at 10am this morning and she still has no sensation in her lower legs or feet!
She is now “hooked up”. With little pumps massaging her legs, and a blood pressure machine, and various other icky tubes for draining gunk. The nurses and staff are very nice.

TiVo!
Picked up a new Hughes HDVR2 DirecTV reciever with TiVo functionality at the Good Guys in Bellevue.
Now for an “English” translation of the above sentence. We have a DirecTV satellite system. The new shiny silver box I just bought allows TV programs from the satellite to be recorded on a hard drive. This allows one to do all sorts of neat things like skip commercials, pause live shows if someone calls, and keep track of 35 hours worth of recorded programming.
The TiVo is also neat in that it just randomly records shows it thinks we will like based on other shows we have asked it to record. It has recorded everything from Jet-Li scifi action to old Jack Lemon comedies. I don’t think it has quite pegged what we will like yet, and it trying to ask us for assitance….
