This was our only adventure away from a 5 mile radius from our house. My friend invited us to join her family and girls for Boxing Day. I got to meet Eleanor and Rosalind. We ended up eating brunch and dinner their since we just couldn’t bring ourselves to leave.

Laura liked playing on this antique rocking horse from Afghanistan.
We got out midday and went up to Marrowstone Island.

It was a fun day, but ferries always have the possibility to cause pain. It was a 5 hours round trip with the most painful part going back. We waited in our car with no heat for 2 hrs with an overly tired girl.
I love the quirkiness of this place.

Between amazing meals of smoked (fresh caught) salmon, trifles, chocolate orange gateaus, we went for a stroll.

We walked around Fort Flagler. It was a bitterly cold day. I borrowed some clothes for the girls.

We climbed on guns.

Snuggled away from the wind on a porch. Nice girl gang!

Went down to the beach to discover our own wooden fort.

Saw geese and goats, oddly enough.
Stopped by a country store for hot chocolate and a wood burning stove. This was the muppet Xmas tree.

Santa got his leg stuck. The owner could pull a string and startle the kids to move the leg while making hot chocolate at the same time.

We ended with Settler’s of Catan. We couldn’t get away from the warmth of friends.
