Left at 0815. At Edmonds ferry by 0900. Waiting for 0940 ferry. Ate a doughnut breakfast from Larsens.
Watching comorants. Smiling at the beautiful weather. Thinking about our upcoming night out from kids thanks to Grandparents, Inc.
11:50am to Port Angeles, stopping at our Safeway/Starbucks combo. Putting off lunch till 12:45 at East Beach on the start of Lake Crescent. The sun was hot and the water was shallow and inviting. It was the perfect place for a long afternoon. The parking lot filled by the time we were done picnicking. One of our girls was terrified by the bees and screamed and and sobbed the entire time. It made lunch difficult. It was nap time.

Slow morning. Pancakes and bacon. Finding stuff for beach. Didn’t get down to beach till noon. No wind at first. It worked up by afternoon and Wayne got his stunt kite flying in. We started out in the water. The tides were headed out. I played in and out of the waves with the kids. They retreated to sand and I retreated to my blanket to read Clash of Kings next to Mom. The girls made a fort behind some drift wood and played with dogs walking down the beach. Wayne went back to camp for more serious kites when the wind picked up. At one point, he had 2 kites in the air at a time.
I took a nap with Laura after not getting back to camp till 4pm. Sand is difficult to get off without showers.
Dinner was chicken soup and grilled cheese. The evening air was cold and damp with a mist moving in. No golden rays pouring through the trees tonight.

Packed a wet tent from dew dripping from the trees.
10am On road and broke camp before 10am.
1200 stopped in Port Angeles for Jack-in-box lunch and gas.
Quick stop at Tidelands state park on west side of Hood Canal.
Kingston ferry line by 1420. On by 1310. Not bad for Labor Day traffic.

Almost home. On Aurora. 5 hr trip. Lot of travel to get off the peninsula.
