Calm

Today has elements of being quiet and slow. I’m reveling in it. I don’t do well being rushed. I can function, but I’m never happy about it. Sara read Babymouse to me while I did dishes. The girls played well into the morning before we got to breakfast. Toys are thrown here and there in the chaos of play. Sara is planning what to bring to see her Grandmother at our next visit. The couch has been commandeered for a Barbie house.

These are all signs of our guests leaving. Today, I slowly reconstruct the kitchen after a few days of neglect. Dishes are almost a revisiting of meals, a reminder of what happened yesterday. We have more room. The kids can take over the couch for awhile. That’s easier to do when you don’t have 10 people in our house.

The K’s have left. I ponder the beginning of school, a last gasp of camping and a trip to see the M’s. Bit of alphabet soup. These are my way of referring to the the two families I know with kids of all the same letter. Kailey, Kendra, Keegan, and Korbin sandwich Mitch, Matt, Mia, Mason.
