20110818 Lake Louise

Up at 0800. Parents joined us for hot drinks and cold cereal. We left by 1030 after dishes. It rained in the night and the morning is cold. The table is wet, so sit in camp chairs.

Noon-3pm Lake Louise we walked past the crowds along the lake shore, taking in the beautiful lake side. We ate a hiking lunch.

1530 girls just got their Banff Xplorer necklaces. Lake Louise Visitor Center feels like the first real visitor center with real exhibits.

Exploring the Bow Valley Parkway. This is a slower highway that parallels the main highway. It feels like we’re in deep aspen forest. The boys head to Johnson Canyon. I’m tired. The girls play in car while I read the 2nd in the Ice series. We see another yearling black bear slurping up berries on the side of the road. We don’t get to town till 1830.

We settle on the Maple Leaf. It’s our celebratory ending meal. It is the best and the worst. The girls eat nothing that’s ordered. This creates some frustration that’s really just a symptom of us all being tired. I have the best steak meal. It’s really the best meal of the trip. Things seem overpriced for some of the assundries. Not a slam dunk. Our campsite looks very nice after such a long day.
