Advice

I read this blog post this morning. It sent
me running to my Bible this morning.

This is part of an organization blog I read. It actually
has some very interesting insights. I have enjoyed their
recent addition of parenting advice. But this advice, while good, leaves me flat. It essentially seems to be saying, if you want this be perfect. Which is impossible. And is the part that reminds me I need to stop reading blogs and go rely on God because I’m not perfect.

One interesting aspect to this advice is it seems to focus on slowing down, but then holds up having your kids play by themselves. Again, I agree with some of the concepts, but it’s too far reaching. Along with the vague promise, if you do this, your kids will be this. Which I think is the worse thing about parenting books. They promise things they can’t provide. I could do all this and my kids could still be miserable adults. Again, a good time to turn to God who is faithful and reliable.

Last thought. My parents did this very well. They showed me and continue to show me how to enjoy life.
