Enchanted evening

It all turned out to be ok. I didn’t know it would be that way this morning. I had a lot to do. But, I did it. I packed for a new trip. I cleaned up half way from Gold Basin camping. Enough to clear out our basement to host 5 women to watch Enchanted April. I cleaned the kitchen. This was my day at home.

Interestingly, I wasn’t at home too much. The night before, Grandparents, INC had picked up the girls and wisked them off to Nana’s house for an overnight! That would be the night that my clinic ran WAY late. That normally doesn’t happen. Still, Wayne and I had a fabulous meal at Bastille. It was actually easy to get in. It was fun to be able to hear each other and sink into the meal without having to wait years to get in. Interestingly, Oaxaca, our first choice, was packed with 2 couples waiting. Who knew? So we had French cuisine with fresh peas, mint, green beans, or fava beans as part of every meal.

SALADE DE HARICOTS VERTS & RADIS
Green beans, radish, green chickpea, oil cured olives, preserved lemon & feta

GRAND CENTRAL BAGUETTE
Sea salt butter
POITRINE DE PORC CONFIT .
Honey glazed pork belly, peas, fava beans & mint.

We shared two main courses of tuna and chicken. Fabulous. Along with my favorite desert- peanut butter crunch, but they replaced it with hazelnut. Still good.

We drove like banshees to see Super 8 in time. Wayne wanted a big screen so that meant Thornton Place. We had only 15 min, but still made it before the start of the movie. With all this travel, I kept getting confused between the movie and the motel chain in conversations (I made a bunch of motel reservations with my Dad this week for our Canadian Rocky trip).

What a great movie!! Sweetness, innocence, smarts, thrilling without being overly cutesy or cloy. Centered more around the death of a mother than an alien.

So, I awoke late today. I had promised the girls Top 10 Toys to buy present for the twins 4th bday. The girls used it as an opportunity to use their allowance. Sara bought some neat play mobile- meerkat set and a knight with a wolf chariot. Laura got a stuffed snake. Not the toys I expected. All this didn’t get me home early. So crunch time came by afternoon. I started to focus and do what needed to be done. Mom cooked dinner of enchiladas. We got to see Edith. Mom made chocolate cake for Kimberlee’s bday. I made a strawberry galette. It turned out as good as the blueberry one. It held the juice a little better.

Finally, the girls came over. We watched Enchanted April. I had seen the play with Kimberlee long ago. Laura stayed up way too late snuggling with me watching it. I didn’t mind. I loved the love. It was worth pushing boundaries a bit to have that snatch of girl time.
