I guess there’s not much doubt it’s summer. Remarks like “what’s that red ball in the sky” have less tread now. Still the spring seems to have made an indelible print on my brain and I’m still incredulous. The week has been busy, so there are days of beautiful weather I’m not able to enjoy as I dream.
We’re in a pattern of camping. The camping is wonderful. The turn around is a little stressful. But I dreamed of having a summer like this- where we explored our backyard with gumption. So we’re doing it.
One sign of summer is eating at my Mom’s. Wayne and I came home from work late. Mom and Dad picked up the kids. We biked to their house. We ate a fresh pasta and a bite of ice cream. The sunset was beautiful. It was nice to get out in the day even if it was late.
Audra and Johanna visited yesterday. I sat on the front porch and sank in to the joy of conversation with an old friend. Sara and Johanna acted like they had not been apart for months.
Tuesday was a day of shopping. I needed some clothes for the girls and me before the summer stock went away and is replaced with fall merchandise (this pattern always galls me- by the time I get around to thinking I need shorts, all the shorts are gone). Mom came with me on this montrous shopping adventure. Library->consignment store->Sears (Landsend)->Alderwood Mall Eddie Bauer and REI->Costco. Oh my! I did find some nice things for the girls and me. It was just long. I’m not a shopping kind of girl. Selection was sparse, but you couldn’t beat the prices.
I grilled some fun salmon in the evening. I have a second batch to do tonight.
