Disney day 6
So we’ve finished Magic Kingdom by 1030. Seriously, we’re looking for things to do. I guess I have been up for 5 hrs now. We waltzed onto Buzz Lightyear. Sara went on it twice. Laura insisted on Stitch’s show which was theoretically scary. It was completely dark at times, but fun.
We watched the dawn from the orbiter. Sara was less than happy with G forces. The best surprise of the morning was the Laugh show with Mike Wazowski. That was fun, especially with the first show. Everyone got to help. Wayne was the boogy man and we were the hat family.
We wandered to adventureland. I went down memory lane with Pirates and the Jungle Cruise. The Aladdin carpet ride got two turns so each girl could drive. We thought about Splash Mtn, but Sara was less interested and the line was an hour. We took the train around the park instead. It was nice to feel the breeze.
Now we are waiting for princesses. I wasn’t so excited about it. But here, waiting for a half hour, the girls are happily playing with carpet and AC. Everyone seems happy. It seems not so bad. It doesn’t seem worth waiting for characters. Maybe I’m cantankerous, but it used to be characters walked up to me, not me waiting for them.
Sleep, swim, eat pattern takes shape again. It’s very restorative. We watched Kratt Bros cartoon for the first time. It’s interesting to see how they’ve aged since Zoboomafo.
1813 hanging in the animation store.
Went on pirates again. The kids are engrossed by that ride. Then we headed to a 1915 Crystal Palace reservation, a buffet with character. We saw tigger, eeyore, piglet, and pooh. The characters made one round before Laura stopped being shy. The food was very good. Nice buffet. The girls ate real food. It was chaotic trying to get food to and from the table while dancing around character encounters.
2052. We’re waiting for the electric parade. We have blinky mouse ears and a blinking tink balloon. We’re all ready for the electrical parade. We’re back aways, but optimistic we’ll be able to enjoy it.
Hmmm. There was lots to enjoy. As always, kids add an interesting element to any activity. It was obvious they couldn’t see. They both got standing positions up front due to the kindness of sympathetic strangers. I was a body length away from them. Wayne was left back with the stroller.
I assumed my kids would stand and enjoy a 20 minute electrical extravaganza. I was wrong. Laura mumbled something about stroller and darted off into the crowd. I had several seconds of pure terror as I left Sara unattended and stepped onto and thru throngs of people in the complete dark to catch Laura. Thankfully, I was quick enough. I foisted her on a startled Wayne and ran back to the place where Sara should be. Nature abhors a vacuum and so do crowds. There was no place for me, but I got back to Sara.
So, I settled down to enjoy the parade with older, mature child, right? No. Sara turns to me and asks, “Can we go to the hotel room NOW?!!!”. The answer was no on so many levels. I had just experienced the impenetrability of the human wall of flesh encompassing us. So I did the only thing I knew how to do. I settled back and enjoyed the parade. Me and my inner child.
So three members of our family were stressed. Laura had tried to bolt away from Wayne so he saw none of the parade. We slowly made our way out of the park. We got a boat quickly and watched the fireworks over the water. The reflections on the water and the cool evening breeze were fabulous.
The girls are sleeping now and were obviously very tired.
