Disney d4 magic kingdom w/kids
Morning magic. We finally followed Wayne’s plan. We got up at 0530. We saw the dawn over the lake. We rode the boat together. We arrived at Magic Kingdom before opening. We saw the overly cheerful welcome show. We did 4 rides in one hour. What a difference arriving early makes. We walked thru the castle (reserved for early visitors only). The picture taking was the most magical part with beautiful light full of possibilities).
We started with the carousel, skipped over to Dumbo, saw a small world, spun on teacups twice, and only then took a break for oranges. We rode race cars then.
By this time, we were all over stimulated. We took a break trying to find a playground. Swiss family Robinson’s treehouse was more a tour and means for aerobic stairclimbing. Laura wanted to stop and play in each room but they were closed. So we enjoyed the AC of the Country Bear Jamboree. I remember it from childhood and living the talking moose on the wall.
We stood in another line to get to Tom Sawyer’s Island. The girls kept looking for slides and swings. Instead, we found caves and swinging bridges and a fort with a secret passage. I was resting and guarding the ‘one’ entrance. The rest of my family surprised me from the rear having ‘escaped’. Whining reached new heights with the heat and the crowds.
1130. We retreated to Liberty Tree Tavern. This was one of the funnest theme with our family being ‘announced’ before our meal. The menu was full of Yankee food better for a winter’s eve. Still, we had a fine time dining on pot roast and turkey dinner. My pot roast was very, very good. Another highlight was our server of 24 years. She added a lot of fun and pizzazz to the meal experience.
On the boat back, we met a family we had stood in line with in the morning for the boat. We were first and they were second. We have informal plans to meet at the pool later.
1400 time to nap. We popped up 2hrs later looking for a pool. We found Brook and her parents in a pool crowd of hundreds. The girls went down the slide a bazillion times and had a blast. I had some adult conversation.
We had our first lunch in. Then we mobilized for Hollywood Studios. This is the park that almost got missed. It’s shows with no rides. There’s a huge production, but we didn’t have the energy to fight lines. We just wandered. I took photos of twilight and palms. Sara sought out toys to buy with her own money. We enjoyed the little mermaid show. Narnia was interesting. The muppet show was my favorite. We wandered the almost empty park and called it a night. It will be good to relax tomorrow.
