Disney d3
Alligators. The first day we saw a small alligator by a waterway in a golf course. Sara spotted him on the way back. Today, we didn’t see the alligator. We saw an alligator catcher’s truck. There ate unwelcome guests at Disney.
Magic kingdom day! The theming here is amazing (more Disney vocab). We got right on the safari ride. Very fun! Pronking is my new favorite word. It means a gazelle jumping up.
Girls are exploring the boneyard in dinoland while I sit and rest. The sun is hot here at midday. We experienced the tri-top spin. That got lots of smiles. Before that, we hid from crowds exploring the tree of life from the exit. The girls would name animals as we met them. We hid in caves, got sprayed with mist, and saw wallabies.
The rainforest cafe was an experience in itself. We are still jetlagged to be hungry at 1100. A bit of sensory overload, but fun. There were bar stools themed for animals with tails.
We started at the Harambe safari and saw lots of animals. The girls all giggled at the bridge falling. The birds were fascinating. Outside the ride we watched a great white heron hunt a small lizard only a few feet from us. On another occasion the girls played with a baby slug. Nature in Disney. We continued on the Pangani trail. Sara and I identified birds. The tangerine weaver (?) was awesome to watch with swinging nests. We saw naked mole-rats like the Mo Willems story.
We slid over to see Lilo and Stitch, the first characters we waited for. We finished the girls souveniring with matching gazelles. Laura got her Dad to buy Polly pocket princesses of sleeping beauty. I had balked at buying them up until now. Laura proudly showed them to every adult for the rest of the day.
We all wilted after the boneyard. It’s probably 5 degrees warmer today. we headed home and napped. No swim. We woke the girls and ran to our date. The girls got to hang out at Cub Den. Sara played lego star warsWe woke the girls and ran to our date. The girls got to hang out at Cub Den. Sara played Lego star wars. Laura organized their thousands of Polly pockets.
Wayne and I went to Magic Kingdom. We took a boat across. We came in at the tailend of the Celebration Parade. We started with Haunted Mansion. That line took about 30 min, and then a ride thru nostalgia for me. We partook of dole whip pineapple soft serve ice cream- the #1 recommended snack in the guidebook. It was tangy and sweet and good.
The ‘quick’ line at the Haunted Mansion lulled us into hope. This must have been an effect of dinner and the parade. Thunder Mountain beat us into submission with a mind numbing, soul crushing 90 min line. Still, the thrill of the forbidden roller coaster was so fun for the last 3 minutes.
We finished with a quick dinner at Pecos Bill’s with pulled pork sandwiches. The chaos of crowds gathering for the electric parade was crushing. We could barely get out of the park. We vowed not to return at night.
The lighting on the castle and buildings was beautiful from the water. We bought the girls souvenir balloons, sparkling, light filled, tinkerbell balloons. It was treacherous to get them hone between the winds, crowds, and boat.
We finished the evening playing and watching the fireworks from our room. Now for sleep.
