It’s been an awfully long week. The time has been filled with many joys, but it has been busy. A conference has taken me away from home for the entire week. It’s a rare look for me at the full time life. I would argue that I already work full time in a sense. Motherhood is lovely, fulfilling, challenging work. Wayne really picked up the slack. I saw the girls very little. That was sad. So today, I reclaimed some time with my girls. After finishing my conference, I was a little drained. I was not ready to move onto the next thing. I was ready to stay home and relax. So, I puttered around the kitchen pushing at the edge of the pile of dishes that was another casualty of the week. I absorbed the sunshine as I took out the trash.
When the girls came home from the park with Wayne, they started playing with my old tea set. They started with water. Then I pulled out some tea pots from my china cabinet. Laura wanted real tea. Sara felt left out since she doesn’t enjoy tea. So we got Gatorade. Red gatorade and mint tea. We added toast and strawberries and called it dinner. Sara had a nice flower arrangement she made on her own.

Other highlights from the week:
The girls got their annual photos together at Laura’s daycare. They look awesome. Should get them soon for relatives. I didn’t do my normal photograph the whole daycare in it’s finery that day, but life was busy.
I worked out 4 times in the morning this week. That was a lifesaver. I even got to swim one day.
Disney loams. Dad and Wayne strategized seeing the shuttle launch. They widdled a 16 hr day down to a 6 hr day potentially. We tried on bathing suits for sizing.
Sara attended the Science Fair on Thur. She did a great job. She and her Dad have been working on it for over a month.

Laura was completely fascinated. There were rats that licked her hands, hovercrafts made from balloons, baking soda volcanos, ice cream sundaes, magnets. I could not pull her away from the place.
We watched Tangled as a family on Friday. First of all, the viewing quality of our TV is awesome with this movie. Secondly, it’s just such a fun movie. A new favorite. It made me think about the “princess culture”. Our girls seem to be less interested in that. There’s certainly some of that, but Laura decided we were a jaguar family at the tea party. I wrote this to my aunt about Laura, “She is interested in jaguars and zombies and dresses and princesses in the same breath.” It’s a good description of where she is at right now.
