Today finally arrived. It’s my day to unpack, to reestablish order. The house is sagging under the weight of too much undone. Too much out of place. But life has been whizzing by. Today was catch up day.
My heart gladdened with my kitchen looking almost zen like after a morning of cleaning. But my companion was not content. Laura had seen the sunshine and lobbied for a park outing. I knew the sunshine was fleeting. The clouds were gathering. Her plans morphed to a picnic. I decided to humor the girl. I could combine eating lunch w/ an outing. I grabbed the bike so I’d get some exercise too. Laura made us PB&J sandwiches.
Off we went. There was protest at our lack of picnic blanket. Excuses like they’re all packed or dirty and it’s still wet were not looked on with favor. Still, we had a good time. It was a four-year-olds time.
I watched gathering clouds and hustled us home. The moment we stepped in the door, the hail and lightening started. We watched it in a warm house over hot chocolate. By the hair of my chinny chin chin.
