Vancouver day 4

Up at 0700.

Started packing and organizing snow stuff till 1000. We bid farewell to the 4 Seasons. What a good place if you can afford it!!! The service was so good.

We debated for awhile about conditions. The choices were Grouse Mtn vs. playing in Stanley Park and not risking the drive into North Vancouver. The drive was fine.

1100 getting snowshoes. The kids wanted to instantly play in the snow piles. It was hard to reign them in so they stayed warm and energetic for snowshoeing. Laura kept wanting to eat snow and would get snow all over her hair and face and down her neck.

Sara’s snowshoes from Costco was a roaring success. She lead the way up and down hills and through deep powder with confidence while we struggled to keep Laura going. Laura’s bear tracks were a flail. They stayed on her feet. They just flopped all over the place! They were clumsy for her.

She had to step widely to use them so they tripped her a lot. She also liked falling in the snow which made things difficult. At one point, we just had her walk in her boots in the trail. We took a short cut once thru very deep snow up a steep hill at the high point of the kids tiring. Wayne actually physically lifted Laura at points.

So the good is we were out on snowshoes for a solid 1.5 hrs. The trail was a winter wonderland. The snowshoes felt good and easy.

It would have helped to have had a sled for Laura. We actually did it after 2 yrs of no snowshoeing. I have a hunger to do more. March looms good for snow in the near term.

Snow lodge completely crowded. Nice fire, but no where to sit.

Wayne scored a beautiful booth that we just slid into at the Altitude bistro. Sit down on Grouse equals $$, but it was sooo worth it. The hot chocolate was great. Wayne’s seafood chowder was great. The kids had fries and pasta. My pork tacos were not great. It was great to see the kids perk up with warmth and food. It just cheers the cold soul.

Leaving Grouse 1430. Watching a steady stream of cars heading up to enjoy the best powder of the season.
Steady snow is turning to rain.

Both girls sacked out. Seeing the first sign for Seattle in downtown Vancouver. Ready to head home.

Welcomed to Seattle with rain, but warm temperatures. Will it snow tomorrow morning? Wayne and I are both tired of driving thru snow.
