Vancouver day 3

Another day, another dollar. I’m not changing the routine and enjoying it. Call this the Four Seasons vacation. The pool is the event. Casualties have been Stanley Park, the aquarium, Lynn Canyon Ecocenter, and the Science Museum. Cold temps, ease of use, need for naps afterward have kept our routines simple.

Sleep, eat, swim, eat, sleep, eat out.

Today was a 2 hr swim. And the epic battle with swim hair. The girls had a blast. Now the sleeping.

The change has been having food in the room. I never realized you could ask to clear out the fridge of the dumb expensive and replace it with my own stuff. A quart of milk fir breakfast. Since going out is such a production with 8 coats between us, it’s made life very relaxing. I even covet leftovers now that I have a place to keep them.

1530 we started moving again. We took a taxi to Granville Island. The taxi slid a bit down the ramp. The Kids Market was still open.

The snow made the cobblestones extra slippery. We bought some more playmobile because they had such an awesome selection. The puppet store is the best I’ve ever seen. They had a cool dragon hatching out of an egg.

We briefly walked thru the market. Laura was awestruck by the fish market. We bought bagels for Sunday.

Finally famished and needing dinner, we headed to Sandbar. We missed Kathleen and Zoe. Lily was the center of attention. The meal pleased mightily. Cedar plank salmon was decent. Truffle chocolate cake. Fries, cali rolls, pizza. Something for all. Warm and cozy, we watched the snow blow and fall. Our own private Whistler in Vancouver. The conversation was divine.

The snarl at the end was getting home. The restaurant hostesses reassured us that there would be plenty if taxis at the stand. There were none. I called the taxi company and got a message. We switched to plan B and took the water taxi across to Hornby and Beach. We walked 5 min and noticed a cab unloading a fare. Perfect! Home.

Snug upstairs to watch a movie. There’s a rally down below with cheering and shouting. Makes sleeping challenging.
