Unexpected

My plan got foiled. Not ultimately. I delivered my old bike to Recycle Cycles. I delivered a free movie ticket that’s expiring to a friend who might be able to use it. I got library books. I delivered a package to the post office.

But things did not happen as I expected. I visited 3 bakeries, two more than I expected. The reason was kids. Kid, specifically.

The day was also cold. Damp and persistently rainy. I drove Darcy and Helen to Honore. We continued the Friday bakery playmate tradition. It’s a delightful thing.

Requests for bathrooming were refused by the youngest. If my life were a movie, that would be foreshadowing. So, off we went to deliver a package. In the post office, Laura started to dance and moan and cry. I delivered the package as quickly as possible. The dance and whining melted no hearts of post office officials. He couldnt even suggest a replacement. The coffee shop I thought was around the corner was closed. We discussed emergency options. Off to another coffee shop. This one was Colombian and welcoming. I got some hot chocolate to stave off the cold.

Onward to bikes. The rain continued. Laura tripped coming out of the car and declared it the worse day ever. I couldn’t get the parking meter to cooperate. I’d been warned that ticketing was fast and furious. So in the rain, I maneuvered an awkward bike frame and grumpy 4 yo without the protection of paid parking. All worked out until a cry for a bathroom NOW.

Bakery no. 3. Essential Bakery. I gave up at this point and just ordered lunch. We has a fabulous, unexpected time. The grilled cheese was amazing. Laura enjoyed dunking it in my turkey white bean soup.

Naps. More rain. Swimming. Lessons. Fun.
