I go to sleep on Xmas and awake on Xmas. 7am to be exact. Shirley’s up working on the turkey. Sara discovered her reindeer antler stocking stuffer. She’s found the note for Santa. She’s wondered aloud how Santa uses our wrapping paper. I read the Luke Xmas story to Wayne before we left bed. There’s a light dusting of snow on the ground.
“There have been only nine Christmases with measurable amounts of snow since snowfall record keeping began in Nashville back in the winter of 1884 and 1885. The last time measurable snow fell on Christmas Day in Nashville was in 1993 when three tenths of an inch was measured.”
Present opening is fun. This is an interesting trail of presents. We’re working on #3 present opening. The girls got Barbies, zhu zhu pets, and little petshop. Each present got it’s own focus throughout the day. The Barbie water slide (much cooler than it sounds) was trialled in tonight’s bath. The light bright lit up the room and got explored this evening. Barbie mermaid was held close throughout the day. Tricky worms were cried over at bedtime when we insisted their long cords made poor bedtime companions. We watched the cat get a pregnancy US at the vets before lunch.
We trekked back over to Karen’s for lunch. Turkey, gravy, stuffing, ham, mac n’cheese. We all enjoyed Toy Story 3. The girls have worked thru the first 2 during the span of the visit. It was Laura and Landon’s last chance to play. We walked outside in the snow and played with Karen’s dog. The snow blew furiously around us.
We ended the evening worrying about the weather. Luckily, we don’t really have to be anywhere. So, we will likely spend longer with the Wootens. The roads are icy and will be more so tomorrow. Weather continues to be a big influence in my life this year.
The kids enjoyed watching the Wizard of Oz for the first time.
