Another slow, contenting day. I awoke to amazing cooking smells that wafted thru the house for the rest of the day. Shirley made orange cranberry muffins for breakfast.
The rest of the morning meandered on at it’s own pace. Sara identified Doug as a very important person when he started bringing out Xmas gifts. She’s empowered by reading and a heightened awareness of Xmas procedures this year. She wrapped gifts for us and Alan and Laura.
We didn’t go out till after lunch. The girls collected acorns and planted a winter garden. They cleaned off an old cradle and brought it in for stuffed animals. I, again, rode the bike. Creature of habit.
The evening was merry. We analyzed weather maps and headed to Karen’s. We agreed to open presents together in case snow kept us apart.
Dinner was bagels and lox. Chicken dip. Ham sandwiches per Aunt Debbies recipe–delicious! Sweet tea.
Present opening was fun. The girls got lots of nice art supplies. Landon cleaned up of the bunch.
Wayne got his Xmas wish to play video games with Matt. The little ones were mostly involved with drawing. Wayne would block the screen from curious eyes. I read the Gift of the Magi with Alan on his Kindle. Such an awesome story! We talked about vegetarianism.
Desert was traditional Japanese fruit pies. Rice Krispy treats with peanut butter and chocolate.
We tracked Santa by NORAD and drove home to freezing rain.
Merry Christmas, all!
