Scallop success

The house was quiet and a fish smell met my nose as I walked in from the cold evening air. Everyone was asleep and I felt a sense of profound gratefulness for the day.

The fish smell was from my earlier cooking adventure making this. I was trialing frozen TJ’s scallops. I’ve been trying to be more clever about adding seafood to our diet. In September, I had tried frozen shrimp from TJ’s with poor results. This was my next attempt with scallops. It turned out tasty. My dish was more like a curry soup. My bean sprouts and cilantro had gone bad, but it still tasted good without.

Laura changed the week by getting sick last night. She stained the rug with red gatorade puke. Mostly she had dry heaves. Her face was pale and she slept poorly. Today, she was running around like a banshie. She still didn’t eat much and was cranky and moody. I let her watch what she wanted. By evening, she was begging for sushi. Cute kid.

Wayne stayed home and I got to ride my bike to pick Sara up at school. I suspect it will be my last opportunity given the Pineapple express is coming to drench us.

Another event was getting to eat at Grinders in Shoreline. I always see it on my way to Costco. Circumstances have never take me to it’s doors since my kids like the pizza at Costco. Today I was alone. It had been well reviewed here and I was eager to try it. I got the sauball, meatballs and sausage. You had to eat it with knife and fork! The meatballs and mariners were the best. Sausage was just ok. They got written up fir chicken pesto.

My last thought for the evening is how much I love my book club. I had joined as an thought. It was another “thing” in a busy life. I wanted to get to know other women in my church better. It has been a joy. Tonight, I got to share and discuss Ender’s Game. It’s a book I’ve read only as solitary experience. I never knew other folks who enjoyed it. Tonight, I found six other souls who delighted in it. Fun!
