Sabbath and buckeyes

I’ve had this project of sabbathing on Sunday for almost a year now. Sometimes it works, sometimes it’s catch as catch can. There are always blessing from God. I just have to pay attention. Today was good.

We actually slept in. Now sure how it happened (maybe no alarm). The girls normally take on that role. We had a leisurely breakfast. I made pumpkin muffins with chocolate chips. Sara actually enjoyed them. I’m so excited about my daughters taste buds accepting new food!

We biked to a local park. I biked on to the grocery store while the girls played. I got exercise. The girls got to play. We all got out in the sun. Perfect.

Laura actually took a nap today. We found out yesterday that skipping nap is not such a successful thing for Laura.

Sara and I made buckeyes. It was complex and long. But it involved chocolate which covers over a multitude of errors. The final taste was wonderful. Chocolate flew all over the kitchen. I literally got chocolate shards flying off my plastic cutting board from static electricity. Melted chocolate crisscrossed the counters. Sara and I both had big smiles. But they didn’t look like the pictures in the http://smittenkitchen.com/2010/10/buckeyes/.

Us and the desert had a nice dinner with old friends from church.
