We got back late last night from the big Carnival at Sara’s school. The girls had a blast. It’s a crowded, raucous affair that makes celebrating Halloween with classmates very fun. Lots of former alum come and hang out. Laura decided to wear her costume. She went to a Halloween party at her preschool after nap. I left her there. My friend picked Sara and her son at school, then walked to the preschool to pick up Laura and her daughter. Then they all walked to my friend’s house to hang out. This left me free to volunteer at the school without the girls. I spent 2 hours helping to set up food in the cafeteria. Costco rocks. It’s fun to see how you can feed an army with stuff from costco. I picked the girls up. We ate a mix of food I prepared and food at the carnival. I tried to get real food into the girls before the assault of candy.
Laura wore her costume. Sara did not. We bought glowy things at the glow store. We pulled lollypops from pumpkins and got prizes. We made painted frisbees. We took pictures with friends on a hay bale. We did a cake walk (musical chairs for a cake to the winning number). We did fishing games. Picked prizes out of a woman with 100 pockets on her dress. Just a grand time. Mostly Laura followed her friend Helen. There was an intricate haunted house that we’ll think about in later years. Wayne followed up the rear and did clean up till 10pm. I took my tired girls home and got them to bed. We’re trying to sleep in and relax this morning after 2 nights of Halloween partying.
