Transitions

It is hard to get my head around transitions today. Today was my first volunteer day. That meant it was my first day to go out to lunch with Sara. Unfortunately, our favorite lunch spot is being a bit flaky lately. It’s closed for the whole month of October. No mention on Yelp or their website. Poor form. My girl was still cheerful with the sun. We went to a different sandwich shop that was a bit of a dive. At least I got fed. We sat in broken chairs on a patio with cars whizzing by. With sun and being out of school, it was the equivalent to being in paradise. I biked home. Wayne’s home. We immediately started discussing what to get at Costco. I don’t normally have company on Tuesday. That threw me off my groove also.

Sara at our lunch spot. She’s not so disappointed. Look at the brilliant blue sky we had today.

Our fall flag backlit by the sun.

The swag from Skagit. We each have a pumpkin. The girls loved picking out the gourds.

What a busy evening. There’s still lots of school stuff going on. There’s the first total wave of starting paperwork, but aftershocks of forms keep rolling in: field trips, after school activities, picture day.

I spent an hour on dinner. Salads can be almost as complex as any cooked meal. I took the grilled Chimichurri salmon and grilled corn from Monday and combined them with toasted pine nuts, the pungent, tangy goat cheese from Skagit, red peppers, avocado, and balsamic vinaigrette. Yum. We listened to Fresh Air interview of Jon Stewart. Fun combo. We all had desert and finished the Snoqualamie ice cream.

This was Laura’s homework, playing hard. Her animals were going traveling. These were the RVs she made for them.
