I did not expect that today. I knew it was going to be cold. But it was COLD.
Off we went to the Marsh Walk, the Arboretum Waterside walk, the Foster Island walk, the boardwalk walk…whatever you call it. Last time, I tried to take a stroller on it (which worked to varying degrees). But it had been awhile. This time, the girls called it the “eat blackberries walk”. That is what we did. We found them everyplace we could. My best image is Dad chasing the kids into the dark tunnel canopy covered trail and hoping he could handle them. I certainly wasn’t running after them. I’m feeling more and more comfortable with my kids. I didn’t need to hold hands as much (so they don’t dump into the water). They seem to have figured that part out. ‘Course, the skies opened up on us.
So we did the best we could and headed to Tutta Bella. The pizza was great. Tried a prosciutto, fig, goat cheese, balsalmic reduction sauce pizza (amazing!), a pancetta with fire roasted tomatoes, and a veggie. Then we all had gelato. I shared a salted carmel chip (intrigued by the take on Molly Moons, not as good), but amazed by the chocolate gelato Sara shared with me. Dark chocolate! Amazing. Tutta Bella’s never fails to please.
Edith mentioned Irwin’s in Wallingford is good for scones. Might have to trial it sometime.
