Camping

Laura is ready to camp. Last night, Wayne and I were tired and went to bed before 9pm. I heard the Laura was still up, scampering around to and from the bathroom (supposedly, an authorized place to go at night). At 9:30pm she decided it was time to go camping. She had a flashlight, her Indiana Jones style hat from her Dad, and a blanket wrapped nap sack full of stuff she slepped up the stairs to our room to ask for a drink of water. Last night, it was just annoying that she woke us up. But this morning, my brain was curious what was going on in her head. Her only answer this morning is that she was hunting monsters. I think she was camping. She’s been excited that we’re embarking on another trip.

Last night, while we were supposed to be cleaning up toys and brushing teeth, she was going on a trip to Hawaii. She had her dog ears on and was a “puppy” traveling to Hawaii. She had a packed bag. She was listening to headphones on the bed watching a movie. The imagination was on overdrive.

Speaking of imagination…I took out all the train tracks when the twins came over on Sunday. Laura has continued playing with them. But she also asked for an additional box down from the closet. It was one of toys that hadn’t seem the light of day for a few months. There were exclamations of “I’ve been looking for this”. This group of random toys has been the fodder of some rich play. Elephant trunks, puppy ears, leashes, telephones.

On a final note of random thoughts, I am faced today with the 10 ton elephant in the room…packing. To go somewhere, work must be done. It’s not my favorite thing. But I want to go places so pack I will. I’ve given up going to the Greenwood car show (I dreamed of photoing cars with my Dad…unlikely while running after 2 girls in deep crowds) and going to the Japanese gardens in the arboretum. But I do get to go to Ohanapecosh. So I guess that’s good enough.
