Grandparent summer camp

A week from the day that they arrived, the house number has shrunk from 6 to 4. Mom and Dad have moved into their own rental house, just a few blocks from mine. Until then, it’s been like a summer camp. I held Mom off from the kitchen for a few days. We ate grilled veggies and chicken and basked in the summer sun the first night. We jumped into the action and awoke to head to TS3 (thank you Pixar) with several other families. The theater cut off the credits to a very disappointed audience. But the movie is great. We put my parents to work instantly to watch the kids while I got to watch the residents graduate.
Sunday was spent procuring fish (copper river salmon) from our local fish monger. It involved a walk with me and Wayne alone. Parents and kids headed to the ice cream shop. Again, a lovely dinner.
Monday, my kitchen was ceded to Mom. Chili with cornbread, spaghetti with homemade Bolognese sauce, clam sauce with linguine. Much suffering over the week.
Wednesday, I didn’t realize that summer camp didn’t start yet. So Sara got to hang out with her grandparents. Dad took her to the park to bike for 2 hrs. She was in heaven.
Thursday, we celebrated Father’s day, new iPhones, success of TS3, grandparents arriving and used our auction certificate in one fell swoop. We ate appetizers plin (pork and chard Pietmontese ravioli), Carnation strawberries with marscapone and watercrest, copper river salmon with nectarines; entrees flat iron steak, halibut with english peas, and short ribs (halibut is the best dish by far); deserts of blueberrys, sorbet, strawberry shortcake, and banana hot fudge ice cream.

We’ve gotten free photography ala Dad. See below. Swim lessons have been fun with 2 pairs of extra eyes. Dad’s gotten into using our aqua camera. I got to bike the girls to swim lessons. I successfully used the new tandem with Sara. I haven’t used it with Laura yet.
