Strawberry picking

The weekend has arrived. I finished a week of swim lessons. Sara finished Kindergarten. My parents arrived and left for own house after a week staying with us.

Today, I took us on a journey, strawberry picking. This summer is all about things undone. I have playmates/helpmates in my parents. It’s easier to travel with 3 adults versus one. My parents are here the whole summer. It makes for lots of opportunities. I’ve never gone to one of the u pick places that dot the northwest.

So I checked the web. It was more tricky than it looked. One of the main places, Remlinger Farms, advertised closing by 1:30pm. With swim lessons ending at 11:30, that wasn’t practical. Some of the farms weren’t doing strawberries or had given up u pick. I called a few and none answered. I finally settled on Horvald Farms in Carnation. They didn’t answer they’re phone, but they had a welcoming message and were open in the afternoon.

Then the morning rain occured despite forecasts of sun. Mom almost convinced me to bail, but Dad was stalwart.

It was diving day at swim lessons. Laura, my fish, gets move to Beginning 2. Sara is putting her face in the water and diving off the board on her own.

We stopped at Snoose part dieux. That place can not get their act together for lunch. We got fed and it was enjoyable, but they’re not Veraci.

Everyone snoozed (except the driver).

It turns out Remingler was open. So we went there. The kids dove into the fields picking away.

They carried cute sand buckets and got covered in red.

We went to the main place and stopped at the indoor playground, bought toy horses, started a train, climbed a pile of rocks, and petted horses.

Traffic home wasn’t bad with HOV, given Friday afternoon traffic.

Now I just have to eat 8 lbs of strawberries.
