The garden Hilton in Emeryville treated us well. It was the perfect transition from the prom. Hungry now for the mothers day brunch- mom’s blueberry muffins!
Up at 7:40am, packed and checked out by 8:45, barely making the brunch at 10am.
Rain, really hard, over the Bay bridge. Missing the sun. Getting me ready for Seattle?
Drove thru SF. Over our old haunts, the Bay Bridge. Saw where they’re building a new one. Smelled fresh eucalyptus. What a lovely perfume.
Unfortunately have to pack up and head out close to 1pm. Oakland airport is a long way, away.
Mother’s day brunch was wonderful, delicious, and chaotic. 20 people swirling around. Steph brought Matthew and Mason. Both were asleep when we left on Friday so it was nice to see them one more time.
The food…was…amazing. Cinnamon rolls strawberries, blueberry muffins, mushroom fritatta, asparagus fritatta, potatoe casserole.
Trying to give the kids bday gifts was part of the chaotic part. Too many fun people to play with. Wayne got all the young kids swag from the Pixar store. The girls loved their bullseye horses. I didn’t get to visit as much as I’d like. Feed kids, eat, then pack. It’s hard to track down all the kids things that got merged with Julie’s kids.
There was a “quiet table” with my Mom and her siblings. It would have been fun to hear those conversations. I got to sit with my cousins.
The gathered crowd at our car as we left was like the cherry on my sundae, the nice ending to a fun visit.
Left at 12:40pm for the Oakland airport. Got there in time for a 3:40pm flight. Ate some food. Laura and I slept the entire trip. We had scuffling about movie watching among the kids. We finally got home, stopped at TJ for milk, and ordered Pagliacci pizza. Quick unpacking and finally sleep in mynown bed.
