Another do-nothing day. Except it’s never nothing.
Morning constitutionals: wayne’s run, my walk (across Kam I up to the point).
Prep for our boat ride. KP duty: boil edamame, cut pineapple, figure out how to have enough food, but not too much, run dishwasher. Spend 30 mom protecting skin from sun with sunscreen.
Beach by 9am. Lasts, sigh. Last day at Kam II.
The ocean has moods. Today the surf was up. I sat near the kids. I thought of rogue waves. No snorkeling. Body surfing. Large swells made for some nice rides. We swam in ocean as a family past the breakers. We made friends with a family fom Vancouver the last 30 min. Sara made a sandcastle with Kendall.
Still no pool. It’s unlikely to happen. The ocean is too interesting a pool. The after cleanup from beach is always and energy drain.
Laura stayed up for lunch. She ate ham like Ponyo. Sara and us grilled cheese. Lovely, sweet pineapple.
The world is still rocking in and out like the waves. First time I’ve gotten that sensation this trip.
Dreaming in shaved iced flavors: strawberry or cherry? Guava?
Chores- snorkel then pack tomorrow.
Great babysitter from thenannyconnection.com. She made bracelets with the kids.
Special drive to La Perouse Bay with the LandYacht. It survived the bumpy road. The lava flows were amazing. Nice smell of fresh rain. Scouting out future snorkel sites.
Grand Wailea is amazing to walk thru. The whole place is open air and shouts money. Humu’s was a fun anniversary date. 13 yrs. Drinks- mango strawberry daiquari. Ribs for appetizers. Mahi mahi mac/pumpkin seed encrusted with banana sweet potatoe purée and bok choy. Wayne- ahi. Tropical fruit sorbet- lychee is best part.
