Holy week

It’s been a really fun Holy Week. There’s been some nice moments sprinkled throughout the week. One of the reasons I didn’t stay in Wisconsin as long was so we could celebrate Holy Week as a family at home.

One of the best things was devotional eggs. This was a children’s project that Sara got from Heidi’s church. It is great. It’s essentially resurrection eggs but packed to fit into Holy Week. Essentially, there are 7 plastic eggs. You open an egg for each day. There’s an object inside that corresponds to a part of the Stages of Christ. There’s a nail for crucifixion, a stone for Good Friday, etc. There’s a nice little card with explanation and a Bible verse. While in Wisconsin, we gathered all together to do this and Kendra read the Bible verse.

Towards the end of the week when I returned to Seattle, I snuggled with the girls on the couch. I got a few of their Bibles (kids bibles are all paraphrased and incomplete, so I’d read one portion and then another portion to get the full story). I would read the whole verse out of my adult bible, but Sara’s eyes glaze without pictures. Two nights, we read the bible for 30 min. It was fun to be able to get them to focus on the stories with such attention.

Laura drew this is Wisconsin. It’s Jesus dying on the cross.
