Really April Fool’s day, but we were too tired to make any prank work. Maunday means command. It’s when Jesus gave new command to his disciples to love one another. It’s the day of the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, and Jesus’ arrest. My girls really were fascinated by the ear being cut off in the garden. They wanted to know which ear.
The neatest this about this day was we made it to this service. Wayne had never been. I think I had been once. It was a good service to have Sara in. As a friend of mine said, “I really needed the Bethany Maundy Thursday service last night to be ready for Easter on Sunday.” I agree. It’s a somber service, but sets up all the pageantry of Easter. The week feels too much like a flood of candy and bunnies without it.
