We celebrated with Jon and Claire today. They had spent Xmas in California, so this was our gift exchange. We shared a fun holiday meal from PCC. The best prime rib I’ve had in awhile and a lovely apple crumble pie. It’s good to be around friends we’ve known for more than a decade. At the beginning, there were only the four of us. Now, we make nine. Good production value there.
Watched Coraline tonight. It’s been sitting in our dvd collection for awhile. The reviews warned of it’s creepiness. It has taken a new year to convince me I wanted to try it. I decided I was more in the mood for Coraline than Crash. The animation is amazing. The story givens you time to get drawn into the characters. Coraline is a bit of a brat and nicely carries an element of that with her throughout, though she’s redeemed at the end. The vignettes were neat. Overall, I enjoyed it. I definitely was fearful for the main character. There was a real sense she could be lost for ever and the evil was convincing.
