Beware of the nap

I started slow. Wayne and I stayed up late watching the DaVinci Code (the better movie) to round off Angels and Demons. So it was fun to rise slowly. Wayne’s been the go getter today. Continuing his cooking trend, he made pancakes and bacon. The girls got a first breakfast a fruitloops, a Dad sanctioned Xmas eve treat. They still seemed to be hungry and got the first of the pancakes before hungry parents.
the outside was still crisp and we were hoping for slightly warmer temps. So, I settled into washing big pots an pans from stews, mac n’ cheese, and pancakes. Wayne helped Sara with homework and played Elmo games with Laura, the same computer games Sara used to play. Still there after 3 yrs, like old friends.
I cruised over with the girls to our neighbors house to water the tree. We oohed and aahed at their decorations, cracked nuts, the kids ate candy despite maternal no’s (unrealistic given it was out at kid level), and saw one cat.
then it seemed time for a walk. The hour didn’t seem too late given the 10am breakfast. Yet we hadn’t checked the most important barometer, Laura.

The complaints:
Mommy no be leader.
Go to ice cream store.
Go to different park.

Each accompanied with sad crying and plaintive yells. Sara got to play at the park and the mail got delivered. Parents nerves were stretched along with good cheer.

So we returned home for the
Much needed naps.
