Diving into the Dark for Light

Today felt more cold even though the temperatures have been warming up. I decided to take the plunge. After 2 years of traveling during xmas, one of my secret wishes has been to engage more in Seattle holiday traditions. One that has passed me by is the Greenlake Luminaria. I love the name. I love the concept. Wayne was out babysitting. I had the girls to myself. So out we went, into the cold, dark night, uncertain about parking, details, and happiness of girls.

It all turned out well. I got parking right at Greenlake (because we went later I think). Laura was afraid of the dark and needed some coaxing. There were crowds of folks around Greenlake. The candles were fun. I think the funnest part was seeing all the personalities of folks. There were people wearing lights, a boat with a frosty, and dogs with blinky collars. We walked around a fifth of the lake before the cold set in. We retreated to the car.

We headed to the Hi-Life for a hot tin roof sunday. We got to sit at the counter with twirly seats, near the fire, watching pizza be made. I’m not a fan of brussel sprouts, but the brussel sprouts oven roasted with pancetta looked nice. The girls colored their dog and cat coloring page and then played with pizza dough. We made dogs, horses, people and reindeer.

Fun date with girls.
