This will only work for 3 more years. That’ll probably be enough. In the past, Sara has insisted on a formula for this day. She was pretty flexible this time. That was useful.
First, the day was greeted with the news that our main kitchen fridge, just replaced 2 years ago, had broken. Wayne, husband extraordinaire, figured out it was the circuit breaker in the fridge’s circuit board. I spent an hour hauling food downstairs to our second fridge, packing it to the gills. I also helped sauder the circuit.
The other extenuating circumstance was Veteran’s day was on a Wednesday. I guess this only happens every 7 years. So Sara got to go to Mom’s group for one last hoorah. That meant Laura joined us for our breakfast and Mom’s group. We headed to Larsen’s since the fridge definitely made breakfast impossible.
We dropped Laura off at school. Circumstances changed things again. The main date was to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Since this was the leftovers (pun!) from summer, it was only playing at Northgate, not downtown. I didn’t expect we’d be able to have our traditional lunch with Wayne. But fate dictated Wayne worked from home to use his commute time to compensate for saving our fridge. So we zipped by to pick him up for lunch.
Sara wanted to eat at the place where we draw the cat and dog. Translation: Hi-Life. She loved her fries and grilled cheese. She decided her desert would be popcorn at the movie.
We zipped Wayne home. I stopped zipping and actually took a nap. We made it to the movie, but I was a little worried it might sell out since it was a school holiday.
I think Sara enjoyed the movie. She giggled during it. She was actually terrified during the end. I think she might be developing more sensitivity to movies then she’s had in the past. She was terrified that the characters might die. I did not enjoy the movie. It wasn’t horrible or offensive. It just was souless and frenetic. It looked so cute in the trailers. The animation in the big screen was poor and overly stylilized.
Then we picked up Laura.
