Neurons

One big question I get is, how is Sara doing is school? We’ve had a bit of turbulence in our school start. But Sara has not. She’s been a trooper throughout the whole process. She has adjusted beautifully by all my estimates.

School has really sparked a fire of learning under her. Before, she would learn sounds and letters, but laconically. Now, she is hungry to read. She was writing and coping numbers in her sketch pad. She begs to do math sheets with her Dad. She wants to play Starfall. She sits with books and “reads” them to her sister.

When she wakes up from a nap next to me, I ask her the time. She’s learning to recognize larger numbers like 56 or 46 without counting to them numberically.

On our walk to school, she was anxious about whether we’d be late. So I let her hold my watch and count the time. We did subtraction of time and blocks.

She’s counting the days to Halloween on her magnetic calendar. She was proud she knew the day her flu shot was (though she was terrified of the prospect).
