Despite my hopes, Sara 2.0 aka Whirligig, has not appeared. I’m working on my 4th week off work due to hip pain. It bugs me having to use maternity leave to sit around home. Mom even came early and has been here for 8 days. So we wait.
The weekend was relaxing. J&C joined us on Friday evening to watch the latest installment of Battlestar Galactica in real time. Normally, we gather on Wed evenings, but next Wed might be busy. Mom and I visited Annie and Rachel and borrowed some more baby stuff (swing, bassinet, etc). The day seemed long and dark since Seattle has fallen into a rain drenched city. I got a little cabin fever, that broke after Wayne started showing me some digital asset management and I hunkered into the second book of the Eragon series, the Eldest.
Sunday, we were more active. We went to the Ballard Farmer’s market to get some sweet carrots, pears, and apples. I tried a chicken salad sandwich at the legendary Other Coast Cafe. Pretty good. There was a break in the rain. After nap (still raining), we all went to the club for the Wootens to swim and Mom to do adult exercise. It was the first time Wayne had been swimming with us for a long time. Sara had a blast having her father throw her out of the water like a rocket.
Wayne and I went on a date courtesy of Mom. November is 25 for 25. We chose Szmania, a Magnolia restaurant with a German twist. The service was excellent. We got seated in a nice, quiet corner by the fire. Wayne had forest mushroom and corn chowder (excellent), Jaegerschnitzel (good), and pumpkin tart (satisfying). I had butternut squash risotto (excellent), venison stew (ok, odd flavoring), and chocolate walnut tart (amazing). It was a very satisfying meal. It was very fall like. We got home by 8pm. We watched Sahara (haven’t viewed a Netflix for a long while). It was ok. Some fun action scenes and humor. At other times, the writing was poor and logic was ignored. Nice pop corn movie.
Still waiting for baby…
