Sara notes

Sara’s sleeping. Wayne thinks he has the flu. I am well. The day is rainy and cold. We’re on the eve of Xmas festivities and time with family. Sara finally got her flu shot earlier this month. Though the supply of children’s vaccine was supposedly not low, our pediatrician was rationing the doses. She still hasn’t gotten her second dose.
Finally, after 2 weeks of a happy girl, but a runny nose, I took Sara to the doctor and she got diagnosed with a sinus infection. She’s enjoying the taste of Amoxicillin. Luckily not reactions. We’re enjoying the reclining feature of our highchair to help administer the medication.
Sara’s been very clingy this week (nickname Kling-on, get it?). I think it’s because of Cora’s disappearance from her life. The first day, Wayne stayed home. He was exhausted when I got home from work. For the rest of the time, I called Judi Julin, a nanny broker who finds emergency nanny care. We found someone who is very nice, but I had nightmares the night before we met her. We spent over a month finding Cora and suddenly I’m giving my daughter and the key to my house to a stranger. You just get whoever is assigned and have to hope it’s a fit. We visited Cora in the hospital and Sara immediately reached out to be with her. She’s a smart kid. I’m definitely mourning the loss of Cora from our life. She took care of our daughter and is a good friend.

Developmentally, Sara is walking only holding on to us w/one hand. She’s now able to almost stand just pulling up with one hand (use those hamstrings!). She loves making sing-song noises ahh-baa-dah-dee. Jon and Claire looked after her on Monday while Wayne got his tooth crown looked at. They said she looks like Wayne on the outside, but seems to have my personality on the inside. She likes to point to herself and go “eh”. Wayne will ask her “where’s my nose?” and she’ll point to his nose. I’ve added to the game by asking her to point to my ear and then I laugh uproariously when she does. It’s a great game and often distracts her from any fussing she’s doing.
